More Vermont Spring Photos
I have included some photos of our flowers and Jewel and her colt taken before all of this rainy weather we have been having. Yesterday morning when we went out to do chores we noticed some hoof prints in places where we had not had horses. When we went up back to the farthest two pastures, one of the gates was open and the four two year-olds were missing. The four geldings in the neighboring pasture were calmly grazing and watching a deer on the other side of their fence doing the same. We did not know if the horses headed for the woods or for the road and the village. Then we noticed that there were horses in our outdoor riding arena. The youngsters had been on a bit of an exploratory gambit after breaking the snap lock on their gate and ended up in the arena. We simply closed the gate and completed our chores before moving them to a new pasture while I went off and repaired the broken gate latch. Never a dull moment around here. The rain finally slowed down late morning and we managed to ride six horses today. I used the rainy time this morning to trim the hooves of the two year old geldings and will probably do the two year old filly's hooves tomorrow.
